Are you trying to get back into the workforce, or a student looking for a valuable experience during their gap year between HS and College, or College and Grad School? The JCCGW, AmeriCorps (the domestic Peace Corps) and Volunteer Maryland have teamed up, and have a wonderful opportunity for them. The JCCGW is looking for a FT Volunteer Coordinator for an 11 month commitment beginning September 2012.
The Volunteer Maryland staff will provide the Volunteer Coordinator with extensive training on the best practices of volunteer management during the partnership year. The Volunteer Coordinator will work with the JCCGW staff for one year to design a comprehensive volunteer management program. The volunteer Coordinator will coach JCCGW staff on volunteer program development and mobilize an average of 175 local volunteers to help the JCCGW better serve our community.
The Volunteer Coordinator will help the JCCGW to recruit, train and retain a strong and stable group of volunteers who can support us in everything from helping to run our Senior Nutrition Program and annual Health Fairs, to working with teens who teach basic computer skills to seniors.
Volunteers have always been an integral part of the JCCGW. We are looking for person who can help us build our program, expand the diversity of our volunteer base, as well as work with our current staff member to better organize, utilize and retain our current volunteers.
This position is an 11- month commitment as a member of AmeriCorps (the “domestic Peace Corps”).
The service year offers:
- Extensive training with the full support of the Volunteer Maryland and JCCGW staff
- $13,000 living allowance
- $5,550 post-service education award (over 55? – this educational benefit can be transferred to a child or grandchild)
